Some personal thoughts on the "Pilot Episode" |
|
The Pilot episode was filmed on location in the New London area of Connecticut. When I contacted the Public Relations Department - at all the places we filmed - I was astounded by the excitement in accommodating us. After all, this was going to be a PILOT not an actual episode! The cameramen and crew that I hired to work with were equally amazed. Each of them had worked for other major networks and had never been treated so well while shooting! We were graciously invited to stay at the Mystic Marriot and Mohegan Sun Casino as our base locations, which was perfect for us because they are central to the spots we were highlighting in the pilot and travel time was minimized. Both the Marriot and Mohegan’s couldn’t have been any more helpful or handicapped accessible. One evening we had a gorgeous and delicious meal at the Octagon Steak House (which is actually inside the Marriot) and one evening we ate at Tuscany (in Mohegan’s), which was literally unforgettable. Not to mention the breakfasts that we were served after a dreamy nights sleep! I couldn’t have been more satisfied or thankful to either establishment for their hospitality, support and enthusiasm towards our show and its purpose. KUDOS from all of us! The shoot was electric for me as I fulfilled my dream but trying at times as well. This having been the first of everything for me, in front of the camera, in front of the world, with an idea and crew that I barely knew! Nevertheless, we all really enjoyed our time together and got tons of footage to work with. My production coordinator, Amy, couldn’t have been more on her toes, both Jay and Tobias truly mastered the art of video with their cameras and Mike helped the lot of us out! My guest, Santina, was fabulous to work with - eager and ready to shoot whenever – which really eased any burden on my part. She was alive, fun and spunky at all times which is exactly why I choose her as a first guest in the first place! She will definitely entice and inspire my viewers, you’ll see! We managed to hit some key attractions in the area and really had fun while doing it! Some of the highlights that you can see on the pilot are the Mystic Aquarium, Stonecroft Bed & Breakfast, Pequot Museum, and Foxwood Casino. There will be clips of the pilot on the video portion of the website and photos as well. I have always loved this area of Connecticut and find myself frequenting it often with my kids, friends and family members. Depending on what I am after, this area has it all from nightlife, sight seeing, history, food and entertainment – I would definitely recommend this area to any traveler, but especially those with disabilities. Ironically it is very New England, but extremely “new” in architecture as well! I think it would surprise you how much there is to do and see and how user friendly it really is. Get out and see the world because you can. There’s a whole world waiting for you. What are you waiting for? - Cyndi |
